Real Reel™ – Editorial Policy

Last Updated: February 1, 2026

Purpose

This Editorial Policy explains the principles, standards, processes, and limits that govern Real Reel™ (“Real Reel,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) editorial work. It is designed to be readable by creators, platforms, partners, interview subjects, and counsel.

This policy is an editorial and governance document. It does not replace our Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, or Disclaimer, and should be read together with those documents.

1. Editorial Mission and Reader Duty
Real Reel is an independent publication focused on the business, aesthetics, and future of vertical drama and mobile-first storytelling. Our primary duty is to our readers: we aim to publish work that is accurate, fair, and professionally useful.

We cover creative practice, business models, platform strategy, distribution, audience behavior, talent ecosystems, and related industry infrastructure. We may publish reporting, analysis, criticism, interviews, and commentary.

2. Editorial Independence and Non-Negotiables
All editorial decisions are made independently by Real Reel’s editorial team. Coverage is not influenced by advertisers, sponsors, platforms, investors, partners, or the subjects of coverage, except where explicitly disclosed.

Non-negotiable limits:
• No paid placement in exchange for editorial coverage or favorable treatment.
• No “approval rights” over editorial framing, analysis, conclusions, headlines, or ratings.
• No contractual promises of coverage, prominence, tone, or publication timing unless explicitly agreed in writing and clearly labeled as non-editorial (e.g., advertising).
• Access to screeners, preview links, interviews, or background materials does not buy or guarantee outcomes.

3. Ethics and Transparency
We strive to:
• present information accurately and fairly;
• distinguish clearly between reporting, analysis, and opinion;
• avoid deceptive or manipulative editorial practices;
• disclose material relationships, conflicts of interest, and access conditions where relevant.

When coverage is based on early access, preview materials, embargoed information, event participation, or provided resources, we disclose the nature of that access when appropriate for reader understanding.

4. Conflicts of Interest and Staff Conduct
Editors, writers, and contributors must avoid conflicts of interest that could compromise editorial integrity. Conflicts may include: financial interests, advisory roles, employment relationships, significant gifts, close personal relationships with subjects of coverage, or undisclosed business dealings.

Where a conflict exists or may reasonably appear to exist, we may:
• reassign coverage;
• require disclosure;
• decline coverage; or
• publish with clear disclosure.

We do not accept compensation, gifts, or benefits that would reasonably be perceived as influencing editorial judgment.

5. Sponsored Content, Advertising, and Partnerships
If we publish sponsored content, partner content, or paid advertising, it will be clearly labeled as such (e.g., “Advertisement,” “Sponsored,” “Partner Content”). Sponsored content is not produced under the same editorial standards as independent editorial work, unless explicitly stated.

Editorial partnerships (e.g., events or distribution partners) do not grant partners editorial control over independent journalism, criticism, or analysis.

6. Review and Case Study Collaboration Framework
Reviews and case study collaborations are access-based, not outcome-based. Partners may provide screeners, preview links, background materials, production context, or optional interview access to enable deeper analysis.

Key limits:
• Reviews are written, edited, and published under Real Reel’s sole editorial discretion.
• Reviews are not submitted for approval or revision, except for optional factual verification.
• Participation does not guarantee positive coverage, endorsement, or specific framing.
• We do not promise traffic, conversions, performance metrics, or KPIs.
• Publication timing is determined by Real Reel’s editorial calendar, with consideration given to release schedules when feasible.

For select reviews, Real Reel may include perspectives from internal editors and curated external collaborators (e.g., fan reviewers, creators). Final selection, synthesis, and publication remain with Real Reel.

7. Interview Policy and Release Principles
Interviews are conducted for editorial purposes and may be recorded. By participating in an interview, the interviewee acknowledges that the conversation may be recorded and used for editorial and informational purposes.

Editorial control and usage:
• Real Reel may publish, distribute, edit, excerpt, and share interviews (in whole or in part) across our platforms, including website, newsletter, social media, and related publications.
• Real Reel retains final editorial discretion over structure, length, and context.
• Pre-publication review, if offered, is limited to factual accuracy and personal comfort; it does not constitute approval, co-authorship, or control over editorial framing.
• Real Reel is not obligated to publish any interview and may elect not to publish at its sole discretion.

Interviewee responsibilities and limits:
• Opinions expressed are those of the interviewee and do not represent Real Reel.
• Interviewees should not knowingly provide false, misleading, defamatory, unlawful statements, or disclose confidential/proprietary information.
• Real Reel may identify interviewees by name, title, likeness, and voice; upon prior request, we may credit an interviewee under a professional name, stage name, or alias.

8. Fact-Checking Standards and Source Handling
We aim to verify factual claims using available sources and reasonable editorial diligence. The depth of verification may vary by format (e.g., breaking news vs. long-form analysis).

Sources may include public records, official statements, documents, direct communications, interviews, reputable reporting, and data providers. When a claim is based on an interviewee’s statement or a third-party source, we may attribute it accordingly.

We may use anonymous sources when there is a credible editorial reason (e.g., risk of retaliation, sensitive business information) and when the information can be corroborated. The decision to grant anonymity is made by editorial leadership.

9. Corrections, Updates, and Clarifications
We are committed to correcting substantive factual errors in a timely and transparent manner.

What we correct:
• Material factual inaccuracies (e.g., incorrect names, titles, dates, attributions, numbers, or claims presented as fact).

How we correct:
• We correct digital content as soon as reasonably practicable.
• We may add a correction note or update note when appropriate for reader transparency.
• We may publish a clarification when an item is factually correct but reasonably confusing.

What we do not treat as “errors”:
• Differences of opinion, interpretation, criticism, or editorial judgment.
• Minor edits that do not change meaning (e.g., grammar, formatting, style).

How to request a correction:
Email [email protected] with (a) the URL or title, (b) the specific statement at issue, (c) the proposed correction, and (d) supporting evidence.

10. Removal, Retractions, and “Right to Be Forgotten” Requests
As a general rule, we do not remove published editorial content. We may consider removal or substantial modification only in exceptional circumstances, such as:
• legal necessity (e.g., valid court order);
• credible safety risks;
• verified and serious factual errors that cannot reasonably be corrected in place; or
• clear and demonstrable rights violations.

We may decline requests that seek to remove content solely because it is unfavorable, critical, embarrassing, or commercially inconvenient.

11. Copyright, Attribution, and Reuse
All original Real Reel content is protected by copyright and other applicable intellectual property laws.

Permitted limited use:
• Short excerpts may be quoted for criticism, commentary, or news reporting with proper attribution and, where feasible, a link to the original content.

Prohibited without written permission:
• Full reproduction of articles, reports, or datasets;
• systematic copying or scraping;
• rehosting PDFs or reposting paywalled materials;
• commercial reuse, resale, sublicensing, or creation of competing products using Real Reel content.

We respect the rights of others. If you believe your copyrighted work has been used improperly, please contact [email protected] with details.

12. Trademarks, Names, and Likenesses
Real Reel™ and related marks are trademarks of Real Reel or its licensors.

Where we use names, images, likenesses, titles, logos, or trademarks of third parties for identification, reporting, or commentary, such use does not imply endorsement or affiliation unless explicitly stated.

13. Submissions, Tips, and Unsolicited Materials
We welcome tips and factual information relevant to our coverage. We do not accept unsolicited scripts, treatments, pitches, or creative materials intended to be confidential unless we have explicitly agreed in writing.

Any unsolicited materials submitted may be reviewed or discarded at our discretion and are treated as non-confidential. Submission does not create any obligation, compensation, or relationship.

14. AI and Automation in the Editorial Process
We may use tools, including AI-assisted technologies, to support research, transcription, translation, summarization, accessibility, or editing.

Limits:
• Editorial judgment, selection, and final publication decisions are made by humans.
• We do not permit unauthorized automated extraction or use of our content for AI training.

15. Community, Comments, and Moderation
If we enable comments or community areas, we may moderate and remove content at our discretion to protect safety, legality, and editorial integrity.

We may remove content that is unlawful, harassing, hateful, defamatory, spammy, deceptive, infringing, or otherwise harmful, and we may suspend users or restrict participation.

16. Editorial Security and Anti-Abuse
To protect our editorial work and products, we may employ technical and administrative measures to prevent scraping, automated extraction, unauthorized redistribution, impersonation, and other abuse.

We may refuse access, revoke privileges, or take legal action when necessary to protect our rights and the integrity of the Services.

17. Updates to This Editorial Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Updates will be reflected by the “Last Updated” date above. Continued use of our Services after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy to the extent applicable.
